The Greek word "Philia" evokes a concept of altruistic friendship, free from any practical benefit, nurtured by innate complicity and shared intentions. It echoes the relationship between humans and nature, which is innately and ancestrally biophilic. Diasen has embraced and reinterpreted this concept by exploring its own unique path, offering an interpretation of the biophilic relationship centred on the mediation of cork, a material that is quintessentially Mediterranean and represents a key element in the company’s formulation, technology, and identity. Through these reflections, the concept of "CorkPhilia" came to life, fully highlighting the role of cork as a bridge between humans and nature, a vehicle of well-being that perfectly aligns with a specific idea of sustainable comfort. In fact, Diasen’s solutions design exceptional environments imbued with strong emotional appeal, where exposed cork helps establish a true multisensory bond between humans and nature, both visually and tactilely. From this perspective, using biophilic materials like cork addresses a range of needs: sustainability, deeply rooted in the material’s natural, plant-based origin; regeneration, linked to cork’s cyclical ‘rebirth’ every decade; and health and comfort, thanks to its technical properties, multisensory appeal, and design potential that highlight cork’s versatility and the intrinsic value of its material essence.
