Everyone knows the situation from everyday life: having to match colour tones to a sample during a customer conversation. The customer would like a component to be coated in the exact colour of their carpet, for example. The difficulty here is finding the right colour tone from a multitude of colour tone swatches. Surface specialist Hesse has now come up with a very novel and smart colour detector—the Hesse COLOR READER. It fits into every handbag or trouser pocket. The device measures the desired sample within 1 second; this equates to a time saving of over 90 % compared to conventional colour tone searches using colour cards. The data is then transmitted via Bluetooth to an Apple or Android smartphone. The app then searches through the Hesse database and displays the closest matching colour tones with their Hesse product number directly on the device. The colour data is stored in the Hesse Cloud and currently contains around 5000 colour tones including RAL Classic, RAL Design and NCS S. The app also provides a timeline and the option of creating a file structure. It is a superb aid in finding colour card tones.
