Have you already signed the ‘Ordre des Architectes’ (Order of Architects)’ climate charter? If not, it's high time to visit the website of the ‘Ordre’. The link to the charter can be found at the bottom of this post.

It is increasingly widely accepted that natural disasters are occurring more and more frequently due to global warming. They are the result of our lifestyle, our propensity to consume and our way of life. The construction sector is responsible for almost 40% of greenhouse gas emissions.

All levels of government are implementing policies to combat global warming, which means that specific actions are being put in place. In this area, architecture obviously cannot be left behind. As a powerful source of low-cost, medium-term solutions to the challenges of climate change, architecture must play its part.

How to participate?

If you would like to participate, sign the ‘Ordre des Architectes’' climate charter. Through its actions, the ‘Ordre’ is empowering the various stakeholders and uniting them around a common goal to respond to current and future environmental realities. This involves respecting the DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) principles established by the European Union. Finally, this charter aims to anticipate future regulatory constraints, some of which are unsuitable, in order to achieve carbon neutrality.

By signing, you show that you are aware that architects have a great responsibility and that they must work for change. The ‘Ordre’ reminds us that we need to rethink the design of architecture in order to change the paradigm and put people and the environment back at the centre of the architectural approach.

Click here to read the full text of the charter. Based on a number of points, it explains precisely how you can commit to responsible architecture. The link to the signature section can be found at the bottom of the page.
