Securing doors, or automatic entrances, located on escape routes has always been a difficult problem to solve. An emergency exit is a weak point for security precisely because it must be openable from the inside by simply pushing a panic bar or lowering a handle. With dormakaba's SafeRoute it is possible to secure an emergency door easily, customisable and fully compliant with the European standard EN 13637, which defines how an emergency exit or panic door can also be electrically locked and controlled in the direction of escape. The SafeRoute system consists of only two main elements: - Control unit with emergency button (SCU-UP) and key button for authorised opening (ST 55) - Door locking system, e.g. a holding magnet (STV systems) SafeRoute offers various functionalities and operating modes, the most important of which are: - If evacuation is required, a user can clear the emergency exit by pressing the appropriate button. In this case, sound and light signals are activated. - Any improper use of the emergency exit (e.g. burglary from outside) is prevented by the holding magnet, and is signalled by audible and visual alarms - The authorised user can exit the emergency door without the alarm being triggered. Authorisation is by key button or badge reader - SafeRoute is also able to monitor the door status by signalling e.g. the 'door open too long' condition which occurs when, after an authorised opening, the door is left open - Several SafeRoutes can be connected together to achieve centralised control of several emergency exits - It can be connected directly to the building's fire alarm system - The system has many additional functions
