DESIGNLCA IN ARCHICAD

With the DesignLCA (Life Cycle Assessment) within Archicad, architects have the unique possibility to make a complete and realistic LCA design calculation during the design process. This LCA calculation is based on the energy consumption of the design (calculated with the EcoDesigner STAR) and the CO2 load represented by the material (based on the link with materials database). To properly assess the differences between materials, the add-on converts outcomes to kgCO2 per square meter. The service life is also taken into account. Results are summarized in an exportable energy analysis. A specialized agency can then convert the analysis into a certified LCA report. This special add-on provides a unique integration of BIM with LCA, allowing much better management of sustainability during the design process.
